Spencer Plumb | President & CEO - Sabin Holdings
Spencer Plumb serves as President & CEO of Sabin Holdings(website), a global real estate platform launched in 2016. In 2009, Mr. Plumb co-founded Excel Trust, a real estate Investment trust (REIT), which in April 2010, was successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: EXL). In July 2015, the company was acquired by Blackstone in a $2 billion transaction. Mr. Plumb served as President and Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors of Excel Trust until June 2016. Over his career, Mr. Plumb has held various positions with other public and private entities including: Excel Realty Holdings, Price Legacy Corporation, Excel Legacy Corporation, New Plan Excel Realty Trust, Excel Realty Trust, and Excel Interfinancial Corporation.
Mr. Plumb also serves on the Board of Directors of CareTrust REIT (NASDAQ: CTRE), a $2 billion healthcare REIT and is a Director of The Sabin Children’s Foundation, whose mission is to relieve the distress of children around the world. Mr. Plumb received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brigham Young University.
Daniel Haslam | Chief Investment Officer - Sabin Holdings
Daniel Haslam has served as Chief Investment Officer for Sabin Holdings since 2016. In this role, he has overseen the firm’s investment in a global real estate portfolio valued at over $3 billion. Prior to joining Sabin Holdings, Mr. Haslam served as head of asset management for Excel Trust’s (NYSE: EXL) $2 Billion commercial real estate portfolio until Blackstone acquired the company for $2 billion. From 2006 to 2012, Mr. Haslam was based in Beijing China as Excel China’s general manager, overseeing the company’s Asia business. Prior to joining Excel, Mr. Haslam worked in the finance department at Ford Motor Company.
Mr. Haslam is a Director of The Sabin Children’s Foundation. He received a Master of Business Administration, high honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Brigham Young University. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Rod Hinze | Chief Executive Officer - Hinze Capital
Rod has over 20 years of experience in public and private real estate transactions in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America. Rod was an investment banker at Bear, Stearns & Co. in the mergers and acquisitions group. He then worked at Goldman Sachs as part of the Merchant Banking division, in the real estate principal investment area (REPIA), with a focus on public and private investments.
Rod was a portfolio manager at Western Reserve Capital Management, where he led the real estate investments team. He then founded KeyPoint Capital Management, a real estate investment fund, with a focus on public REITs and public real estate-related investments. He is currently a Senior Managing Director at RREAF Holdings, where he structures multifamily and hospitality investments for institutional investors. Rod Hinze has turned around and currently owns two self-storage properties and 3 RV Parks in Texas. Rod has a B.S. and Masters in Accounting from Brigham Young University.
